Debby Chang was born and raised in Southern California. As a child she spent most of her free time in libraries, allowing her to feed a lifelong love of reading by devouring works by authors such as Orson Scott Card, C.S. Lewis and Douglas Adams. Debby went on to Stanford University, where she ran the student movie theater and studied economics.
After graduating, Debby spent over a decade in operations working for Google and a string of tech startups in Silicon Valley. In 2018 she left the tech scene to focus on writing in earnest. She is currently finishing her first novel, an action adventure about teenagers finding self acceptance in a magical, dystopian Florida.
When she is not writing, Debby volunteers at a neighborhood nonprofit that serves meals to the unhoused and low income community. Her other interests include science fiction and fantasy media, Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, psychology and social justice.
Debby lives in San Jose, California with her husband and four cats.
